Mexico City Mayor and Deputy in Heated Political Exchange

The political dispute between Cuauhtémoc Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega and Morena party spokesman Arturo Ávila is intensifying ahead of the 2027 elections. The conflict escalated after the deputy claimed his car fell into a pothole in the delegation. In response, the mayor accused him of lying, stating he was actually in Aguascalientes, where he aspires to be governor. "It's deplorable to use a position meant to serve the people to lie, cover up for corrupt individuals linked to organized crime," Rojo de la Vega stated. She also accused Ávila of having ties to criminal organizations and of lying to please his political patron. Ávila, in turn, called the mayor a "cynic" and claimed she is a perpetual loser. Both sides are deepening their public accusations, creating significant political tension.
